Throughout my career in education, I was given various opportunities to design curriculum for learners across various vocational subjects. One of the key objectives that I would like to achieve is to infuse differentiate learning into lessons to create an inclusive classroom for all my learners.

My interest in technology has led me to explore ways to infuse technology in to learning. Instead of blindly chasing after new trends, I believe that technology can improve the learning experiences, but only to be use when necessary.

Video Tutorial to Teach Web Development

To address the needs of my learners during home based learning and to cultivate self directed learning at a younger age, video lessons was used to guide them in completing their practical exercises.

Video Lecture to Introduce Programming Concepts

Learning programming concepts is usually quite challenging to some learners as the concepts are very abstract. Therefore, visual model was used to fill this gap and help my learners understand various abstract concept like the variables. After designing the pictures, video recording was used to allow my learners to watch or recap at their own pace and time.

Game Based Learning for Programming Concepts

Prior to creating this lesson package, I had create something similar to teach procedures in Retail operations. However, programming concepts are very abstract. Therefore, to make it impactful and to help my learners retain the visual modelsm, this game was concepturalise and made in a different approach. The storyline revolves a character by solving scenarios using programming concepts that my learners learnt previously.

Gamification of Lesson Packages

Sometime just to complete a practical exercise can be seen as mundane to learners. To make it fun to complete the tasks, I used existing platform like ClassCraft to get my learners to submit their tasks. Stories was written to help them immerse into the questlines to complete my lessons packages in Google Classroom.

Curriculum on Computational Thinking with Microbit

Teaching programming to learners are usually challenging, as learners tend to find them rather intimidating. In order to reduce their frustration and anxiety while they are picking up the skills and understanding the concepts, lessons have to be broken down into smaller chunks, isolating each learning units to easier to grasp parts. The curriculum is also prepared in way to facilitate differentiated learning, this is to accommodate learners with varied learning needs.

Facilitate Learning with Augmented Reality

Theory lesson can be very heavy for younger learners, and in order engage my learners, one of the methods that I used is Augmented Reality. The main idea is to change the way lesson is delivered, breaking the monotony instead of just worksheets and power point slides.

Authentic Learning with Project Management

Being the Company Liaison Officer and Internship Coordinator for the Enhance Industrial Attachment Program, not only must I manage the external interns, but also the internal interns that is doing their internship in school. I led the internal internship like a interactive and design studios taking in projects from internal clients (departments / divisions within the organization) which I engaged.

In order to give my learners a more authentic experiences, I use BaseCamp, a Project Management Tool to manage projects through to do or tasks list, as well as giving the interns the platform to interact directly with the internal clients through discussions and showing work in progress.

This project shows that I have skills in project management, analytical and research, critical thinking, creative problem solving and fluent in digital data. You can watch the video to see how I have run my internal internship program with the project management tool.

Curriculum on Standard Operating Procedure

Teaching the task to receive goods can be challenging to the learners as the task consist of many steps and sub tasks, making it difficult to retain all the steps. Therefore, a Standard Operational Procedures was introduced to the learners. The procedures was broken down into smaller tasks to train. Each of these tasks were trained in isolation.

Connecting the Parts

To connect the lessons, demonstration video was introduced after learners have learned how to complete individual tasks that were introduced previously in isolation. Then learners will use the video, SOP and worksheets as references to perform all the tasks as a complete procedures.

This project shows that I have skills in human factors and training, instructional design, curriculum design.

Recording of the GBL Package

After a series of research and analysis to address the challenges that learners are facing, a interactive game was developed to facilitate game based learning for my department. This is the screen capture demo of the game designed to train retail vocational curriculum.

Facilitation of the GBL Package

The video shown above is the recording of how the lesson was facilitated using game based learning. Minimal instructions was given, and at the end of the session, every students was able complete the lessons on their own.

After the facilitating the lesson using game based learning, students were given a quiz to gauge their learning from the lesson package. Subsequently interviews were conducted to gain qualitative feedback from students on their lesson experience for review.
